NOTE:
I. The number of above vacancies may change as per requirement.
II. The Assistant Engineer (Trainees-E&M) and Junior Engineer (Trainee-E&M) shall have to work in shift duties as per requirement, roster schedules and shift policy of the Nigam as applicable from time to time.
III. The written test for all the above posts will be held simultaneously on the same day and same time. Hence a candidate will be able to appear in the written test for only one post.
IV. Handicap candidates are not required to apply for the above posts.
V. The Assistant Engineer (Trainees) and Account Officer shall have to undergo written examination, group discussion and interview before selection. Those who clear the written exam shall be called for the Group Discussion and interview, while the Junior Engineer (Trainees) shall have to undergo a written exam and those who clear the same shall be called for the interview.

1. Pay and Perquisites:

(b) Prior to revision of pay scales, Dearness Pay @ 50% of the basic pay and Dearness Allowance on Basic and Dearness Pay is payable at UP Govt. Rates. In addition to the above, Essential service allowance (for Engineering services only) and shift allowance (if working in shift duties) are also payable.
(c) Gratuity and CPF are payable as per Govt. regulations.
(d) As per existing provisions following is also admissible at the Thermal Power Stations and New Project Sites: Free residential accommodation, free medical facilities to self and dependents, electricity at subsidized rates, site compensatory allowance and production linked incentive.

2. Eligibility and Qualifications:
2.1 For Assistant Engineers (Trainees) (Post code 11 to 15)
(a) Essential Qualification:-
(1) Candidate should have thorough knowledge of Hindi Devanagri script. If the candidate has not passed High School or equivalent examination in Hindi, he/She has to pass the examination conducted by the Registrar, Departmental Examinations Government of U.P within three years of joining.
(2) Four years Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Mechanical/Telecommunication/ instrumentation/ Electronics & Instrumentation/Electronics/Computer Science/ Industrial/ Industrial & Production Engineering/ Civil Engineering from an University OR an Institute established by law in Uttar Pradesh or from an institution recognized by State Government or a degree or diploma recognized as equivalent thereto by State Government OR by any of the Universities in India incorporated by any act of the Central/State legislature OR by UGC OR section ‘A’ and ‘B’ of the Associate Membership of the Institution of Engineers (India) OR be an Associate Member of the Institute of Electrical Engineers (London). Applications of General & OBC candidates having minimum 60% marks in aggregate and SC/ST candidates having minimum 50% marks in aggregate will only be accepted.
(b)
Preferential Qualification: - Master of Engineering/Technology in any of the above mentioned disciplines from a University recognized by the State Govt. OR ‘University Grants Commission’ OR ‘All India Council for Technical Education’.
2.2 For Account Officers (Post code21):-
(a)Essential Qualification
(1) Candidate should have thorough knowledge of Hindi Devanagri script. If the candidate has not passed High School or equivalent examination in Hindi, he/She has to pass the examination conducted by the Registrar, Departmental Examinations Government of U.P. within three years of joining.
(2) M.Com High II class or B.Com Ist Class from a University established by law in U.P. or any other University recognized by the Government of Utter Pradesh or from a University in India incorporated by any act of the Central/State legislature or by UGC.
(3) Cost Accountant or Chartered Accountant or other qualification equivalent thereto by the Board or the State Government, duly qualified to practice as such.
ORMaster Business administration or equivalent in Finance/Accounts from any University recognized by the Government of Utter Pradesh or by “All India Council for Technical Education “, Government of India or by UGC or by Technical University, having a minimum of 60% aggregate and having an at least one year experience of working on the Finance/Accounts/Audit Branch of a reputed private/public sector undertaking with an annual turn over of at least Rs. 20 Crore, preferably a public utility undertaking.
(4) In addition to above the candidate must have the knowledge of Computerized system/working on software related to Accounts.
(b)
Preferential Qualification: - Experience of working on the Finance/Accounts/Audit branch of a private public sector undertaking with an annual turn over of at least Rs. 20 crore, preferably a public utility undertaking.
2.3 For Junior Engineers(Trainees) (Post code 21 to 34):-
(1) Candidate should have thorough knowledge of Hindi Devanagri script. If the candidate has not passed High School or equivalent examination in Hindi, he/She has to passed the an examination conducted by the Registrar, departmental examinations Government of U.P., within three years of joining.
(2) Three years diploma in Electrical /Mechanical / Electronics / Control & Instrumentation/ Instrumentation/Civil Engineering from a Institute recognized by the State Government or conducted by the “All India Council for technical education”, Government of India, Delhi Polytechnic or conducted by any of the Universities in India incorporated by any act of the Central/State legislature OR awarded by the “All India Council for technical education “, Government of India. Or final examination held by the State Board of technical education, Utter Pradesh for two years diploma courses in Mechanical Engineering (Machine tools technology), Electrical Engineering (Electrical technology) & Electronics/Control & Instrumentation/ Instrumentation in respect of students trained at the government Polytechnic, Lucknow or Nainital Polytechnic, Nainital. OR City and guides London Institute, final grade examination in Electrical Engineering practice post Ist and IInd held after June, 03, 1950 Applications of General & OBC candidates having minimum 60% marks in aggregate and SC/ST candidates having minimum 50% marks in aggregate will only be accepted.
3. Age: - Minimum 21 years and maximum 35 years as on 01-07-2008. Relaxation in upper age limit of maximum 01 year will be provided to the candidates who had undergone apprenticeship training under apprenticeship act 1961, in UPRVUNL. In accordance with the orders of U.P. Govt. relaxation in upper age will be provided maximum 5 years to the SC, ST & OBC candidates who are original inhabitants of Uttar Pradesh. Relaxation in upper age limit up to 5 years is also provided to the dependents of freedom fighters. The relaxation in upper age limit up to the number of years served in the Armed Forces plus 03 (three) years, is available to the Ex-servicemen who have served for a minimum of 5 years in the Armed Forces.
4. Reservation:- (i) Reservation will be provided to S.C./S.T. and O.B.C (non creamy layer) candidates who are original inhabitants (Domicile of Utter Pradesh) of Utter Pradesh only as per Government rule. (ii) As per rule 2% horizontal reservation for dependents of freedom fighters and 2% horizontal reservation for the Ex-serviceman/Ex-Army personnel is applicable for post of Junior Engineers only (iii) Where a suitable candidates belonging to Schedule Tribe or Scheduled Castes, as the case may be, is not available in the recruitment the vacancy reserved for them may be filled in such recruitment, from amongst the suitable candidates belonging to the Scheduled Caste or Scheduled Tribe respectively, as the case may be as per Government rule.
5. Selection Process: - Selection will be based on the basis of written examination to be held at Allahabad, Bangalore, Delhi, Lucknow & Mumbai and as well as interview at Lucknow. In this process the written examination will be held in January, 2009. Short listed Candidates on the basis of written test will be called for interview and Group Discussion, after the written test. Written test shall be objective type having questions on general reasoning and aptitude, subject knowledge, General Hindi and English. Failure in completing the selection process shall automatically disqualify the candidature.
6. Apprentice: - In case all other requisites being same, candidates having undergone apprenticeship training in UPRVUNL/ under apprenticeship act 1961 will be given preference.
7. Application fee: - (1) A Crossed demand draft (non refundable processing fee) drawn from any scheduled bank in favour of “U.P. Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Ltd.”, payable at “Lucknow” should be enclosed with the downloaded application form, which is to be sent by registered post only at the address provided in Para 11 below. The application fee amount shall be as follows:- (a) For the post of Assistant Engineer (Trainees)/Accounts Officer – General Category and OBC category candidates – Rs. 1000/- and Rs. 700/- in case of SC/ST candidates. (b) For the post of Junior Engineer (Trainees) - General Category and OBC category candidates – Rs. 800/- and Rs. 500/- in case of SC/ST candidates. SC/ST and OBC candidates should be original inhabitants of Uttar Pradesh, Application form without demand draft shall be rejected. (2) Candidates must write their name, control number on the back of the demand draft. The control number shall be available while downloading the form ‘on-line’.
8. Character: - Candidate will have to produce character certificate before final selection from the head of the last institute attended and also from two responsible / respectable persons who should not be his / her relatives.
9. Marital Status: - Any married male/female candidate having more than one spouse alive and female candidate who is married to a person who has already one or more living wife, are not eligible for selection.
10. No. objection Certificate: - The candidates who are presently working in any organisation of State Government/Central Government/Semi Government will have to submit no objection certificate from their present employer at the time of interview, without which they will not be permitted to appear in interview.

SETP 9 :
The candidates, if selected, in the written test, shall have to appear for interview and or group discussion, as the case may be, at a place time and date which shall be informed to him through e-mail. Before the interview he/she shall have to produce the following documents along with all original documents to the satisfaction of the Nigam: (a)self attested copy of “caste class certificate” (b) self attested copy of “domicile certificate”, (c) self attested copy of certificate containing “date of birth” (d) self attested copy of Technical eligibility qualification certificates in case of candidates whose examination results are expected by 31-01-2009, they may not attach the same now but shall be required to submit the same at the time of interview, (e) self attested copy of consolidated final year/or pre final Semester marks sheet whichever is applicable, (f)self attested copy of “Ex-Service man certificate” and certificate of “dependent” of freedom fighter(whichever is applicable), (g) authenticated supporting document for ascertaining the annual turn over of the company is to be provided by the candidate in case of the post of Accounts Officer. If any of the other documents are found to be missing or unsatisfactory, the candidature of the applicant shall automatically be cancelled and no interview shall be taken. (5) Selection Process:The Selection Process would comprise a Written Test followed by Group Discussion, Computer Literacy & Skill Test and Personal Interview. Candidateswill have to appear for written examination at the respective centres chosen by them / allotted to them at their own expense. The written examination will beconducted on November 2, 2008. Only those candidates who qualify in all the written tests individually with prescribed minimum marks are called for GroupDiscussion, Computer Literacy & Skill test and Personal Interview. The number of candidates to be called for Group Discussion, Computer Literacy & Skill Testand Personal Interview will be at the discretion of the Corporation.
Written Examination:The Written Examination will comprise of:Paper I (objective) : Objective Type Questions having four components viz. (a)Test of Reasoning, (b) Test of Quantitative Aptitude, (c) Test of GeneralAwareness and (d) Test of English Language. Questions papers for the Written examination except the 'Test of English Language', will be set in Hindi and in English. Candidates may answer the questions
at interview in Hindi or English, at their option.
Paper II (Descriptive): Consists of short questions on a given situation that a candidate has to comprehend, analyze and express his/her views thereon.Note 1: Paper I (a), (b) and (c) and paper II can be taken either in Hindi or in English Note 2 : Paper II is of qualifying nature and marks obtained in this
paper will not be reckoned for ranking. This test paper shall be evaluated only of those who are short-listed on the basis of their marks scored in each part
of Paper I and total.
The Written Test would be held at the following centers i.e. Bangalore (11), Chennai (12), Guwahati (13), Kolkata (14), Mumbai (15) and New Delhi (16).(Numbers within the bracket indicates Centre Code). Candidate can select any one center from the above-mentioned centers and indicate it in his/herapplication. Request for change of Centre will not be entertained. The Corporation, however, reserves the right to change/cancel any of the Centres forthe written examination depending on the response/number of applications for a particular centre.
Candidates admitted to the Written Examination will be intimated the time and full address of the venue of Written Examination through ONLINE CallLetters. Candidates will not be admitted to the Written Examination without a valid call letter. Candidates are advised to visit the Corporation 's website
in the second week of October 2008 to download their call letters from the Corporation’s website by entering their registration number and password. Thecall letter will be sent by e-mail and by post under UPS. In view of sending the Written Examination Call Letter online, no duplicate Call Letter would beissued to any candidate/s.(6) Pre-Recruitment Training (PRT):In compliance with Government Guidelines, the Corporation would arrange free non-residential pre-recruitment training for interested eligible SC/ST/PWD/Religious Minority Community candidates. The training will be organized in Bangalore, Chennai, Guwahati, Kolkata, Mumbai and New Delhi in October2008. The Corporation has the discretion to add or delete the centers in respect of pre-recruitment training. Candidates who desire to avail themselves of
such training may indicate the same at the appropriate place in the application form.
The candidates will have to make their own arrangements for travel and stay and meet all expenses. The pre-recruitment training will not confer on the
candidate any right of recruitment in the Corporation.Details regarding the time, date and address of the venue of the Prerecruitment training for the interested eligible candidates would be put onthe Corporation's website. Provision will be made to issue Call Letter for PRT ONLINE. Other instructions, if any, in this regard would also bedisplayed on the website. 8. Nature of duties : (a) The Chief Drill Instructor will be controller of the outdoor training in the Academy, (b) He will be responsible for planning, coordinating and conducting all outdoor training activities for the IPS Probationers under Basic Course and Senior Officers undergoing training by various In-service Courses in the Academy, (c) He will supervise the work of Drill Instructors, Assistant Drill Instructors and other Supporting Staff in the Outdoor Training, (d) He will inspect and carry out Physical Verfication of Arms & Ammunition and other stores kept in the Quarter Guard, and (e) any other work entrusted by superiors.

Deputation Period & Age Limit : Period of deputation including period of deputation in another ex-cadre post held immediately preceding this appointment in the same or some other organisation / department of the Central Government shall ordinarily not exceed three years.
