The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will hold the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination, 2015 on 23/08/2015 for recruitment of various posts of Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), Indian Police Service (IPS) and certain other Group 'A' and Group 'B' Central Services / Posts.

Eligibility:

• Posts  : 1129 posts (PH - 29) under various Services
• Age : Not less than 21 years and not more than 32 years as on 01/08/2015. The upper age is relaxable for SC/ST/OBC and certain other categories of candidates to the extent specified in the Notice.
• Educational Qualification: Degree of a recognised university or an equivalent qualification.
• Physical Standards: Candidates must be physically fit according to the Regulations given in notice.
• Number of Attempts: The maximum number of attempts permissible to different categories of aspirants, who are otherwise eligible will be as follows:
  • General Category : Six
  • Physical Handicapped : Nine (No limit if SC/ST)
  • OBC : Nine
  • SC / ST : No Limit

 New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Saturday dismissed a petition by a civil services aspirant seeking stay on the UPSC preliminary examination scheduled for tomorrow.

While refusing to postpone the exam, the Supreme Court noted that nine lakh students were ready to appear in the exam tomorrow and that's why it cannot be postponed at this juncture.

You raised only questions on comprehension part that has already been removed and the defect has been remedied, the court told the petitioner.

UPSC Civil Service Prelims Exam Today

 On Friday, the Delhi High Court had also dismissed a similar PIL challenging UPSC's recent decision asking civil services aspirants not to answer questions in the English Comprehensive section of the Preliminary Examination.

The HC had directed the petitioner to instead approach the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) as it is a service matter.

"Thousands of students will be adversely affected if the questions of the English Comprehensive section, that carries 22.5, out of 200 marks, will not be checked," Vikas Nigwan, appearing for civil services aspirant Dinesh Bhatia, had said.

Recently, the Centre had, following protests by a section of students over English Comprehension test in the Preliminary Examination of the Civil Services examination, decided to remove the questions of English languages in the CSAT.

Later, Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) came out with the decision asking candidates to leave the questions unanswered during the CSAT examination as the section will not have any bearing on the merit list due to non-evaluation.

UPSC had, in its notification, said "the Paper-II would contain a section on English Language Comprehension Skills (Class X Level). Candidates must note that they do not have to answer the questions on this English Language Comprehension Skills (Class X Level) section. These questions will not be evaluated."

The maximum marks for Paper II would be '200 minus the marks earmarked for the English language comprehension skills (Class X level), the UPSC had said.

सिविल सेवा प्रारंभिक परीक्षा के प्रवेश पत्र जारी

नई दिल्ली। सिविल सेवा परीक्षा के पैटर्न पर संशय बरकरार होने के बीच गुरुवार को संघ लोक सेवा आयोग (यूपीएससी) ने इसकी प्रारंभिक परीक्षा के लिए प्रवेश पत्र जारी कर दिए। यह परीक्षा 24 अगस्त को होनी है। यूपीएससी ने अपनी वेबसाइट पर अभ्यर्थियों को एक लिंक दिया है, जहां से उम्मीदवार अपने प्रवेश पत्र डाउनलोड कर सकेंगे। हालांकि, परीक्षा के पैटर्न पर सरकार द्वारा नियुक्त की गई तीन सदस्यीय समिति विचार कर रही है। कार्मिक मंत्रालय जितेंद्र सिंह ने सोमवार को कहा था कि सरकार दो-तीन दिन में इस पर फैसला ले लेगी।

2 addl attempts, 2-year age relaxation for civil service exams

Civil service aspirants will from this year onwards get a two-year age extension and two additional attempts beyond the existing stipulation.

The Centre recently approved two additional attempts for all categories of candidates beginning with the Civil Services Examination, 2014, and the consequential age relaxation across the board.

In a statement Department of Personnel said that from this year onwards, unreserved category candidates will get six attempts until 32 years of age.

There is no restriction on the number of attempts by candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. But the age limit for such aspirants has now been extended by two years from 35 to 37 years.

The Other Backward Classes candidate will now get nine attempts until 35 years of age.
